Making a Difference

The second edition of Making a Difference: Advocacy Competencies for Special Education Professionals empowers college students and professionals with the competencies, dispositions, knowledge, and skills essential to becoming advocates for special education students. Each chapter contains objectives, questions for discussion, a list of resources (i.e., Web sites pertaining to the chapter content), and reflection activities.

The original chapters are updated with new references and content. New chapters address resilience as an essential disposition and knowledge of community services as an essential knowledge base for advocates. The new features added to the second edition are found in all 13 chapters. These features enhance the instructional and learning components of the second edition.
