This Scissors, Glue activity book has 60 lessons, each with:
• easy-to-follow, scripted directions to elicit the target concept words
• a reproducible, full-page scene
• reproducible pictures to cut out and paste onto the scene
• expansion activities
The lessons tap into a student's pre-existing knowledge base with content based on daily experiences. Students follow directions and answer questions using the target concept words while they manipulate the pictures in a motivating art activity. At the completion of each lesson, the student has made a picture to take home for extra practice.
Family letters are provided to send home with the completed pictures. Four "challenge lessons" reference multiple concepts and can be used as review lessons. Two to five concepts are targeted in each lesson. The lessons are divided into two levels of difficulty. Some of the concepts are:
Level 1 for grades K-1
Over/under, big/little, top/bottom, in front of /behind, same/different, empty/full, right/left, small/medium/large, first/second/third, between/through, and more
Level 2 for grades 2-3
Short/shorter/shortest, long/short, top/bottom/behind/under, wide/narrow, top/bottom/right/left/corner, first from/second from/third from, equal/more, equal/fewer
