Rhythm & Rhyme Literacy Time <show description>
Improve phonemic and phonological awareness, as well as collaborative learning, through the use of grade-appropriate poetry.
• Introduce poetry (traditional and original) to students to develop and comprehend skills such as rhyming, phonics, onset and rime, syllables, words with multiple meanings, writing, alliteration, and fluency.
• Engage students after reading each lesson’s poem with at least three activities that focus on word skills (word sorts, rhyming, reader’s theater, etc.) all in one handy resource.
• Use word activities and an included writing-connection activity (one per lesson) as informal assessments.
