Cues and Signals is a supplementary program that will enlarge and enhance any existing reading program. It is usually effective in any subject area where the students need to develop adeptness in vocabulary, both written and spoken.
From Grade 3 it will provide visual practice for children who are inhibited by the increasingly complicated ground of the printed page as their books become more sophisticated. It is applicable to any elementary classroom after the initial teaching of reading.
This series of books provides an excellent program of expansion for the fited child. It is equally effective in a group or as an independent program.
For junior high and high school, Cues and Signals provides interaction with an academic vocabulary. It frequently appears that advanced students and adults operate on multi-tracked language system. The academic and textbook language with which they must perform sometimes seems to be entirely separate and apart from their speaking vocabulary. There appears to be a long word syndrome from about sixth grade that persists even in the university student.
Cues and Signals is primarily a visual program, and is not binding phonetically or linguistically. Therefore it is adaptable to any existing program.
