8 themes (animals, space, mysteries, famous people, plants, ecology & the environment, food and history) are explored through classic children's literature. Students choose differentiated activities for each of the chosen books. Additional books can be chosen form the extensive theme-related booklist. Reproducibles include activity menus, a rubric, portfolio organizer, end-of-unit reflection page, story planning sheet, and character development sheet.
